Some folks have said that Astros v Yankees in the ALCS is almost the "real" World Series, and they may be right. 107 wins for the Astros in season vs 103 wins for the Yanks; both the clear best teams in baseball...but don't write the National League out just yet, both the Nats and the Cards are pretty tough, and I can see either winning the title.

Anything is possible, but regardless of who wins the Series, the Astros and the Yankees were the best teams in baseball this year.

Sorry to say though...I won't be able to see that match-up. Kind of locked out until the Series itself.

And they did it without their closer, who was taking paternity leave to be with his wife for what was the birth of their daughter, so congrats to the happy couple. He's back however for today's game. Honestly though, IMO, it could go either way, though obviously for now the Nats have that one game lead. I suspect though that the Cards will come back and at least make it a close one, if not to actually win. So, don't throw in the towel just yet. Good enough to beat the Braves is nothing to sneeze at. IIRC, the Nats' $37 million dollar man will get the start today...

Oh hell, the Angels are TOAST. Their director of communications basically confirmed everything Tyler Skaggs' family alleged in their lawsuit against the team over the players' death. He, the director of communications, told the feds he was Skaggs' supplier, and did opioids with him. And that he told team management all about Skaggs before his death. And that about five other players were using too. sports.yahoo.com/report-angels-employee-provided-drugs-to-tyler-skaggs-200635275.htmlWell, the suit is already there, just waiting to be settled or won; no way they lose. And how many criminal indictments will there be?

Well, it IS a bit odd, since long term opioid abuse hurts fine motor skills, like putting a pitch into the strike zone.
