Ethanol? Yep. Caught my attention too. Was he trying to kill himself? You'd have to be suicidal to take all those things together.

Justin Verlander of the Astros no-hit the Jays, one walk away from a perfect game. IIRC, he now has 3 no-hitters.

Baseball says hi to football with a football score for you, as the Astros....destroyed the Mariners 21-1. They are currently the best team in baseball.

While the Yankees are very strong, it's hard to deny the Astros. Remember the other day they won 21-1, crushing the A's, a decent team. So yesterday, the decided to crush the A's again, this time 15-0, hitting seven home runs. Everyone in the Astros starting line-up got a hit. The Astros' Rookie of the Year candidate Yordan Alvarez, hit two home runs including one that was the longest ever hit in Houston, to the upper deck of right. Had their not been a back wall, and had the stadium dome been open, it might have gone out of the ballpark. It in fact broke stat-cast. I'd guess it was easily over 500 feet. Greinke got the win, no surprise.

Dodgers clinched their 7th division title in a row. Astros lost by about as much as they won the past two days to the A's. I must say though that the Dodgers seem to be starting their traditional late season/post season collapse.

Wow, MVP candidate Christian Yelich of the Brewers is out for the season after fouling a ball off his knee, breaking his kneecap. That is huge news; he was only like the 10th player ever to hit 40 home runs, (he's at 44 currently), and steal 30 bases in a season...and he seemed to be getting better as the season went on. Now his MVP run is over, and so are his team's post season chances.

New York Mets' rookie of the year lock and very strong MVP candidate and the current MLB home run leader, (47), Pete Alonso, keeps on showing why he's also just a great guy. He tried to get MLB to approve the Mets wearing FDNY and NYPD hats for the day, (9-11), but they wouldn't approve it, (despite approving many other special hats and uniforms), so he ordered custom 9-11 memorial cleats, figuring it was better to ask forgiveness than to ask for approval, and he and his teammates wore them as the Mets themselves honored a group of first responders before the game. He also won the All-Star home run derby....donating $100,000 of the $1 million prize to charities, remembering that rookies, no matter how great, usually don't get paid the really big bucks guys like Trout make. Good guy, but MLB needs to get over whatever thing they've got against honoring the victims, first responders, military, and others for that terrible day. It makes them look bad IMO.

In a major blow to the Angel's playoff hopes... ...er...well, Mike Trout is out for the season, probably blowing what little MVP chances he had, (since he plays for the Angel's, who will be in a future World Series when they spring for the tickets), needing foot surgery. We have a guy, Alonso, for the Mets, who is pretty awesome, and another guy for the Reds who ties him for the MLB home run lead with 47.

Hard to bet against the Astros for the title, they've clinched home field advantage....and they haven't intentionally walked a batter since...early August...2018!

Yankees and Astros are the class of baseball right now. I think the Astros have the better chance, but other of those trams could win it all. Nationals have been given another chance to disappoint their fan base.

Yankees and Astros are the class of baseball right now. I think the Astros have the better chance, but other of those trams could win it all. Nationals have been given another chance to disappoint their fan base. It's funny, every time I see the Astros, I think that they're the favorite, and every time I see the Yanks... I think they're the fav. If I had to choose, it'd be the Stros though. There was a bit the other day in the Ranger game where with two outs and a pop foul, the Rangers' pitcher called to his fielder to not catch it. Because the Rangers suck and the season is almost over...and because he had 199 Ks, and wanted to get to 200 for the first time in his career. The Astros Cole by contrast, has won 19 games with something like 315 Ks. Funny you should mention the Nats, (I am a fan, they better not do that " src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/superangry.png">), they've been coming on lately. Whereas the Astros aren't "coming on" because that would imply they weren't already. They've basically been that way all season. But if you want fan disappointment, try the Dodgers. Their traditional late or post season collapse is all but assured, given their habit of going full on moneyball in the post season, where that approach doesn't work, and also the fact that they over use their pitchers all season so that their arms are blown by post season time. I'm hoping they can go to the Series again and lose again, and next year to, until they match the football Bills in that respect.

Watching one of the FEW Dodger games I can see; (like my other home team, the Angel, who I have been unable to see at all on TV), at San Fran, and I have to say, that stadium is THE most beautiful in MLB. Sucks that even with the MLB package, I can't see those games. In fact, if I want to, in addition to the MLB package, I'd have to get Spectrum for the Dodgers and FSW for the Angels. MLB needs to look into things like that.

Finished that game, it was very good. Dodgers won 2-0, Ryu won the ERA title and made his best case for the Cy Young, now it's up to the voters...and maybe DeGrom, who might pitch tomorrow. Ryu helped himself after going 7 plus, hitting a RBI single. The other was a Muncy solo, for his 35th HR. Jansen got a nice save, working himself out of 1st and 2nd with no outs. The Giants had an absolutely unique closer, a rookie I understand with a twin brother on another team...this guy is a true submariner, so rare these days. His motion was the best I've ever seen, the only pitch I've seen in recent years to come UP rather than down, and it had incredible side to side motion. Add to that low pitch speeds scraping the area where Major Leaguers can't hit those balls. Oh yeah, Dodgers got their record for wins in a season, 105, putting them a game up on the Yanks, and .5 behind the Astros for best in the majors. They can eclipse their record tomorrow if they sweep the Giants.
