Very interesting. The Dodgers got Mookie Betts and a pitcher, Price, from the Red Sox. Price won the Cy Young in 2012, so he fits in nicely with the long time habit of the Dodgers and Angels of getting aging stars past their prime. They gave up Verdugo. And the Angels are playing now with former Dodger Joc Pederson in a separate deal. Dodger pitcher Kenta Maeda was also dealt off to the midwest somewhere, I don't recall....but losing him is another great idea. I swear, every single time I saw that guy pitch, he got a huge lead, then fell apart and blew it. Or he came on in relief and blew that. Be interesting to see how the Dodgers and Angels do.
Obviously, the Dodgers intend to make their move this season; Betts is only a one year deal, if they want him after that, they'll have to I am a fool. up a lot more. But while they improved their hitting and fielding with Betts, they lost Pederson, who was streaky, but often the winning hit. And they certainly improved their pitching by getting rid of Maeda, they also let one of the top 4 pitchers in MLB go in Ryu. Price was injured last year, so we don't really know how he'll do, but my prediction is that he won't be terrible, but he won't be great either.
I think that it will be Yanks/Dodgers in the Series, with the Yanks winning. The addition of Cole IMO bought them that. While losing Ryu hurt the Dodger a lot, maybe more than getting Betts will make up for.
The Angels won't go to the series, but they have a shot at making the postseason now.

Watching a XFL game cold, not knowing anything about it. It appears to be the Tampa Bay...er...I'm going with the "V", based on their helmets, against the New York...er...."Dashed lines"? The Tampa Bay "V" look to not need stadium lights due to their uniforms. Night games will be a breeze. I'm thinking Vince missed a bet here. Imagine if he had put actual lights on the player's uniforms, with blinkers! Powered by lithium-ion battery packs the players would wear, which absolutely would never ever explode upon colliding with another player.

I am HAPPY! I am watching MLB! Yes, it's a spring training game, but it's still the Braves vs the Orioles, and it is MLB! I figured I might put up a 2020 season thread when the actual season starts in a bit.
Bit confused about Joc Pederson...maybe of the Dodgers, maybe of somebody else. My bro told me his trade to the Angels fell through, and I don't see him on their roster. He also just lost arbitration over last season's pay with the Dodgers, so I don't think anyone will want him to stay. He was fifth in the NL last year in home runs per at bat, something like every 12.5 AB IIRC, so he could help the Angels, who are to be charitable, a bit light in the hitting department once you get out of Trout, Rendon, and Otani, with maybe that rookie from last year who was making his pitch for Rookie of the Year before he broke something, a leg I think.
Anyone know what's up with Pederson though?
Edit: Pederson seems to still be with the Dodgers...but he seems to be injured, (hip), probable for opening day. Maybe the Angels think it is worse than previously thought?

Going to relax to my MLB package...and watch the REMATCH! I want blood, I want tears, I want boos, (which we're certain to get considering how very popular the Astros are right now. But yes, the WS rematch! Sans some very important players for both sides, of course. Watched a bit of the Yankees vs the Jays, Yanks didn't bother with their star players, most of them, get the impression injuries might be in play. No one care, but the Yanks lost, and the Braves won their game, playing Freeman for two at bats, then talking to him on the broadcast. He seems quite smart BTW, and VERY committed to the game. Probably make a good color guy when he's done playing. And...there's always that superhero gig he can do...

Wow. That's all I can say about Fury/Wilder 2! I was NOT expecting this. Like most people, I picked Wilder, easy. Instead, it was Fury from start to finish, brutally beating the living hell out of Wilder, forcing Wilder's corner to throw in the towel in the 7th. Wilder NEVER got out of the gate. Fury owned him completely. What the hell happened? How could a pretty even first fight turn into...this?!? Keep in mind that Wilder was undefeated and touted as the heaviest puncher in boxing history. I know of someone who hits....harder. My observations: Fury kept Wilder going backward; hard to mount an offense when you're constantly retreating. Fury's jab completely penetrated Wilder's defense. Fury dictated the pace, which was him going forward attacking the whole fight. Wilder just couldn't deal with well, a huge guy who can fight and has incredible power. sports.yahoo.com/tyson-fury-picks-apart-deontay-wilder-claims-wbc-heavyweight-title-055742020.html

Another, perhaps better take on the fight. While kicking myself for not placing a nice bet on Fury, I have to ask; can he be the one to bring boxing out of it's funk? Outsized boxer, outsized personality...but erratic, which could prove to be a problem with his depression issues, and tendency to addiction. But if he can continue to deliver... Ordinarily, I'd say this means no more trips to the WWE, but with Fury, who knows?

Hard to find a better sports story than THIS! Sounds like a classic sports movie. The whole 42 year old Zamboni driver and emergency backup goalie making his NHL debut and getting the win...only gets better when you find all his health issues he overcame. I give it roughly three hours before Brad Pitt or someone options the story for Netflix or whatever.
