There was this old show from about ten years ago, maybe more, called River Monsters with some Brit sport fisherman tracking down legendary monster...in rivers. Yes, you knew what you were getting with that show. In each one, he'd set up a story about some horrible thing or other, all blamed on a local river monster. Then he'd go fishing there and try to catch said monster. And this fish figured in like five or six episodes. I recall seeing the things and wondering just that, as they reminded me of armor, and the guy kept going on about how armor plated they were. Seemed obvious to me that it would be worth looking into, glad to see they are. Too late. I'm already wearing my fish armor.

Well, they ran the Breeder's Cup at Santa Anita Racetrack, and I'm afraid you can guess what happened during the race. Yep, another one, came up lame and then was put down. I didn't even bother to mention two others last week. This is supposed to be very, very common in horse racing. And not just at Santa Anita.

"10,000 horses murdered"?
