Maybe it is the signal for the start of the end of the world, finally.
Nah, I shouldn't say that. This is a deeply concerning thing for everyone that lives in the region. Between this and that storm that hit Vanuatu last week the seas around Asia are taking a hammering and it is a region already under pressure.

Where do you live?
I am sure some areas will get great sunsets (not trying to marginalize what people are going through). I remember that happened after Mt. Pinotubo erupted.

It all depends on how big the eruption is. Eruptions have been known in the past to do weird things to the weather. An eruption in 1815 comes to mind.

Another not big one, but starting the season early (hurricane season starts june 1). Only forecasted to become a tropical storm named Arthur.
