Well, we have a DC thread and a Marvel thread, so here's one for all things IDW, Dynamite, Image...and any other publisher. Some fine work is being done outside the big two, so this thread can help us learn about it.

I picked up the first issue of The Girl in the Bay this week:
It was just a really good first issue that5 made me really anticipate where the story is going.

Yeah I got it too. DeMatteis has still got the goods, I’m in for the rest of the mini.

I've always liked DeMatteis. Might check this out.

Other stuff I'm currently loving: Deadly Class -- maybe my favorite current comic, and the TV show's pretty fucking good too Black Science Deadly Class Shadow Roads The Damned Southern Bastards -- the delays on this are becoming interminable though Moonshine East of West Lazarus -- should return soon in its new format Black Magick -- hopefully this returns soon too Exorsisters -- really fun so far with super cute art Curse Words And if Deadly Class is my favorite book, I think Crowded may be my second favorite. I don't know anybody else who's reading it, but I recommend it to everybody; it's a really bright, fun, fast-moving mishmash of Black Mirror, Grosse Pointe Blank, and Midnight Run, with some sharp commentary on gig economy, Internet celebrity, etc. DEFINITELY worth your time:

I've been enjoying Blackbird a lot, especially the art by Jen Bartel.

Yeah I got it too. DeMatteis has still got the goods, I’m in for the rest of the mini. What did you think of the ending? I liked it myself, but was slightly disappointed the so many questions were left unanswered.

I get all my non-big 2 stuff digitally through ComiXology so as to get the $1.99 price point they drop it to after 1 month. Will grab it as soon as the price drops in a couple weeks.

Another new Image book that looks to be really fun is Assassination Nation. Waiting for the price drop on issue 2, but I loved the first issue. Basically, the world's former #1 assassin has now graduated to crime boss, and somebody's trying to kill him, so he hires the world's current top 20 assassins (and yes, there's an actual ranking system/tote board ) to serve as bodyguards and figure out who's trying to kill him. Naturally, this incredibly bad idea goes hilariously off the rails almost immediately. There's a fun, fairly spoiler-free interview with the creators at Image's site (https://imagecomics.com/features/so-much-straight-up-murder-assassin-nations-kyle-starks-and-erica-henderson-on-launching-their-new-comedy-blockbuster ) if you want to know more, but I recommend giving it a shot.
