Cable today would be wise to play The Natural, 8 Men Out, Major League, Bad News Bears, The Sandlot, Bang the Drum Slowly, It Happens Every Spring and Air Bud: 7th Inning Fetch. I might watch Major League, but I also heard that MLB Network will be airing a classic game from each team, for the Dodgers for example, it's a Kershaw no hitter. That's what the news says, but I don't see anything like that yet, though it was supposed to happen today...

And then there's always... Complete this sentence in context of this movie. "There's no.....in baseball!"

Might have to kiss most of this season good-bye. We'll see.

So, conceivably the Dodgers might have gone from making one of the best trades in MLB history, to one of the worst, without having anything to do with it. Mookie Betts after all signed for only THIS year, and now MLB and the Player's Association are talking about making him and other similarly placed players free agents again next year....which he would have been. But recall the Dodgers paid him what $30 million for this year? And gave up Verdugo. For nothing, if no games are played this year, which seems possible at least. That said, it means the Angels will have a shot at him next year, and if he went there, with Trout, Rendon, Otani, and a couple of others, it could be a contender in the AL West.

Is there a lone, shining light in the awful darkness of no sports? Maybe. Yesterday it seems the MLB Commish and the Player's Association agreed they might play in empty stadiums, (presumably with a few TV cameras around). And that they might play an abbreviated season, or end later. Much remains to be thrashed out apparently, and of course conditions need to improve, but still, a glimmer anyway.

I would not watch that. Baseball is as much about the sound of the crowd as it is anything else.

Every damn thing here is closed. You can't go to any of the beaches, any of the trails, anything at all. Hate this thing.

That one hurts. He was my favorite baseball player as a boy. Great commentator, too. He and George Kell were a fantastic play-by-play team. RIP Mr. Kaline.

Heard of him of course, it's impossible to be a baseball fan without having heard of him. But he was before my time, so I really don't have that connection. But, sorry to hear it.
