There's a laundry list. Biden has been running podcasts I think, outlining his responses to COVID. They amounted as I said to stuff Trump already has done or is doing. Biden's problem here is that he's largely irrelevant to the process. He has no power to do anything, and no built in platform to talk about it. His other problem is that he evidently has no original solutions to offer, and didn't bother to keep up with what Trump was doing. I don't really know what Biden can do apart from what he's doing. COVID is screwing him in a way, much like it's screwing the rest of us in other ways. Hmmn. I've seen a few of Bidens responses, but I don't follow them in depth so I cannot agree or counter what you are saying.
Trump talks a big game, but rarely have I seen results (eg. the number of tests available vs. what is actually available/deployed).
Well, unfortunately (or depending on your opinion, fortunately) we are in the situation that we are in and will just have to try to get through it best we can.

No....hot ladies dressed in Octoberfest dresses? If you drink enough, you can still see them.
{Spoiler} Which is probably what happened previously anyway…

Well, the guy needs to cop to the fact that the CDC screwed up; he owns that as much as anyone not at the CDC. Own that testing is a priority and they're working on it. That's all he can really do at the moment, and exactly what he needs to. He needs to stop viewing this as a continuation of his war with the Democrats; it doesn't matter what they do, HE is the President and needs to do a better job of leading. Yes, yes, there's plenty of excuses he can make, to varying degrees of truth, but the fact is HE needs to step up, and no one cares about excuses in the middle of a crisis. They care about results. And yes, if you look at the numbers, his, and ours, aren't terrible. Per capita, our death and infection rates are about on a par with France, which is about 4th or 5th in Europe behind places like Italy, Spain, and the UK. We're not New Zealand or Germany though, so he shouldn't get too in love with himself, (yes, I know, too late). His semi blocking of people coming from China also was a good idea that probably no one else on the national scene would have done, but again, it wasn't done AS well as it could have been. As I said, he could learn a lot from watching Newsom or Garcetti's daily pressers. But I doubt he will.

As large a number as our country's testing is, it still needs to be a lot more before we can even start to draw any conclusions.
I need a bacta tank or carbonite chamber…

I would say that we probably don't need to test everyone in the country, but we need to test enough, and in the right places, to figure out the rest with math. And we need both the tests that test for current infection, and the antibody tests. And there seems to be multiple strains, some of which may be far more lethal than the others. So...a complex problem requiring a lot of deep thought and expertise. Not something to toss off comments about whatever the hell Trump is talking about a lot of the time in those briefings. Sometimes I can't understand his train of thought, as he weirdly and unlike anyone I've ever met, talks in stream of consciousness, leading to unrelated thoughts creeping in and making his meaning hard to determine. Worse, given the protests worldwide, I give it two to three weeks before they HAVE to start reopening the economy, or face massive unrest. Riots and the like. I hope I'm wrong, and even more I hope it doesn't come to that, but it may. And will someone PLEASE put a muzzle on DeBlasio? Jesus, dude, the LAST thing you want to do upon reopening NYC is throw a freaking parade for healthcare workers... The latest China/Russia/Iran propaganda, (they seem to be coordinating their efforts in that respect), helps us understand where COVID-19 came from. Turns out, it's a bioweapon developed by Bill Gates, I'm assuming personally, because middling computer skills and bigger business skills often translate into world class genetic engineering skills. Why exactly, I haven't bothered to find out; it just makes sense, and it explains why COVID often fails to kill; it's just the pandemic version of the blue screen of death... Though I might actually have bought it if it were Elon Musk. Or Bezos. Or Faceborg.

So...a complex problem requiring a lot of deep thought and expertise. Yeah unfortunately testing everyone would be near impossible. Even if it were not, multiple tests would have to be done since the damn thing is asymptomatic, you can pick it up at any time. So yeah, testing A LOT, and finding the patterns so that we can at least see hotspots more accurately and try to mitigate that. Like any science study, we need a baseline before we can start trying to quell it. That is worrisome. I understand the desire to end the lockdown. It looks to me like a lot of the initial outbreaks of the unrest is orchestrated (and that pisses me off), but there is no doubt a desire, and the protests are fanning the flames. I just hope we can hold out a little longer, since it *SEEMS* to be working. Come on. Haven't you watched GI Joe or read superhero comics? If you are a pilot you can pilot any craft. If you are a biochemist, you can also solve physics problems. It's just science.

I don't think those protests are orchestrated, I just think there's a lot of desperate people out there who have lost their jobs and incomes and can't ride it out like say Jimmy Kimmel, who really ought to STFU. Yes, I get that he absolutely hates much of America, but going out of his way to express his utter contempt and raving hatred for those protesting, implying that they should just die quietly so he doesn't have to hear about them is a bit beyond the pale, even for him. And when people like him or Pelosi or AOC do those sorts of things, they're making future effective Trump commercials. That class hatred and blindness is going to cost them, and the pandemic seems to be bringing out the worst in them. As observers have mentioned, just because Kimmel can afford to wait it out no matter how long, doesn't mean everyone else can, and he should understand that. Problem is, he does, and just seems to hate certain people so much, (and he conflates all of those protesting with Trump supporters....which probably isn't true at all), that he doesn't care. Though...I do like the trillion dollar coin idea...

That's my take as well. And even if it's not, crap like "Liberate Michigan" will eventually get people killed.

Interesting, it appears that the first deaths in the US from this thing came on February 6, way earlier than first thought, in California. Puts a new spin on whether we could have avoided this in the first place; it seems not. Once China decided to lie about pretty much everything connected to it, no one else had much of a chance to completely avoid it.
To the Michigan thing, yeah, those protestors are jumping the gun and should give it a rest...but the governor needs to be smacked down a bit as well. She's going way overboard with the supervillain fury at them, way overreaching in some particulars to her orders, giving rise to legit thoughts about whether she plans to relax much of that ever, and also seems to be going for that sweet graft a bit too openly, hiring a firm that works on her campaign to run the state's testing...and crucially, database for this. Given all that, yes, people are going to get nervous. Someone else I think would be well served by watching Newsom's briefings and mimicking his style. Again, not that I think it will happen; people seem reluctant to learn from good examples for some reason.

So the small business package among others in the first relief bill is subject to abuse, color me shocked. Evidently, some rather...larger businesses, and some places like Harvard, (endowment around $41 billion), took about $10 million and says it won't return any of it, but will use it for scholarships or some such. Trump begs to differ and says they will return it, pointing out they're not exactly impoverished and can use some of that $41 billion for such needs.
Meanwhile, Shake Shack is returning $10 million. I hate profiteers. Now isn't the time.
