Here's a question I have, why have we not seen a catastrophic death toll among the homeless? If there's ever a population that is so completely vulnerable to this thing, it's them. They live in all weather mostly outdoors, which has to depress even a healthy person's immune system, and they live very close together in those camps, in squalor and filth, and they don't wash their hands or cough into their elbows or anything like that. I mean it's good we haven't, but I want to know why. My best guess is that most people avoid contact with the homeless as it is. Not to mention I doubt they travel abroad, and I can't say how often they visit local medical facilities if they feel under the weather. That said, New York is apparently one of, if not THE hardest hit at the moment, so that could change. It's entirely possible they are dying, but it isn't being reported as widely for one reason or another.

Maybe, but in Los Angeles and San Diego, people who likely HAVE traveled abroad step over them on the sidewalk. There seems to be substantial interaction between the homeless population and everyone else. So I just can't figure it. As for the reportage issue, yeah. But still, if there was a substantial increase in homeless deaths from ANY cause, you think someone somewhere would have noticed and reported it, as we really need to know if that's happening so we can do something about it.

A few observations. In the local grocery, the employees were wiping down every surface the customers would touch with bleach constantly. Many were wearing gloves and or masks. Some items are starting to be stocked again. I can't say how much it still creeps me out to see the shelves looking like stores in the Soviet Union. Toilet paper, paper towels, soups especially Campbells, items like canned meats and tamales, all bleach products, and a few other things are still out of stock. Eggs and other food items are rationed at one per customer. Seating areas have been blocked off. Some stores are only letting in ten at a time. I would have to be suicidal or desperate with the stamina of an elephant, which I don't or aren't; to go to Costco right now. All beaches, trails, and parks have been closed. Basically, the only places you can go here are the grocery or other food stores, restaurants for take away, some dentists and most doctors, pharmacies, and the like. The courts and DMV are closed.

You should be ashamed of yourself. Why? Because some asshat met reality? Now I don't want anyone to die, but schadenfreude happens. People like Trish Regan losing their job is a worth a round of (virtual) high fives (and kudos to Fox News for that). I would raise my glass if someone like Paula White ended up destitute. So-called pranksters (i.e. the woman in Scranton, PA) going into a grocery store coughing on produce deserve to be charged with terrorism (and I'll cheer the authorities on). I'll applaud every time some jackass (like TikTok's Larz) who licks toilet seats and then end up with the virus. Profiteers of toilet paper/hand sanitizer/etc. who become social pariahs did this to themselves. And then there's Trump (nothing else need be said on that one). Those that are doing the opposite of 'helping' deserve scorn and ridicule imo. Being alive or not doesn't change that.

I've more-or-less said it elsewhere, and I'm saying it here: Right-wingers in particular don't seem to understand the concept of IRONY or KARMA, and how to avoid being on the losing end of same. These concepts start SMACKING THEM IN THE FACE because of the TYPICAL SELFISH, SELF-CENTERED, and SHORT-SIGHTED right-wing things they're saying/doing, and they wonder "What happened??!! What did I do to deserve this??!" Some people NEVER learn... smh

People like Trish Regan losing their job is a worth a round of (virtual) high fives (and kudos to Fox News for that). I'd offer a single kudo for their bare minimum effort. They still have poltroons like Hannity on board, who straight-up referred to this thing as a hoax weeks ago, but NOW say "we've always taken it seriously, we've never said it was a hoax". People implicitly trust his opinion-based observations, regardless of facts, and just like his pumpkin-hued master, he made people less safe by lessening the seriousness of this virus.

Trump apparently extended the Federal guidelines another month, saying that the peak should come in two weeks, and roughly that it would be terrible to prematurely declare victory, evidently listening to those two doctors at his side for his pressers.

If there was anyone I would wish even a mild case of this, it would be Trump.

If there was anyone I would wish even a mild case of this, it would be Trump. I don't wish it on anyone, mild or otherwise. From all accounts, it's pure hell. Still apart from his usual Trumpisms, the guy seems in this case to broadly be doing the right thing...so far. And he did close travel to China early on, which probably saved a lot of lives here. Which is something I don't see ANY other candidate for the job ever having even contemplated, much less gone through with. Speaking of China, residents of that city are saying the death toll in that city alone is around 26,000, not the couple of thousand deaths China says it suffered in the whole country. Let's hope we get spared anything close to that.

RIP to Alan Merrill, Writer of "I Love Rock And Roll". The Arrows frontman died of COVID-19. Joan Jett of course famously covered the song, making it into the iconic hit everyone knows. This thing is actually killing many minor celebrities. Some Japanese comedian also died of it as well.

Somebody named John Prine, who is 73 and evidently a country singer/songwriter of some fame, though since I'm not the biggest country fan around I've never heard of him...but he's in critical condition in hospital with COVID-19 symptoms though indeterminate test results.

Way To Go Mercedes! Pretty awesome if you ask me. Never heard of CPAP machines before, but it sounds very smart to modify them to serve as sort of mini respirators.
