Meanwhile, British actor Julian Sands is missing for over a week now on Mt. Baldy, a locally notorious winter death trap, with a bunch of ways to kill you. Even rescuers won't go there on the ground looking for him; they deemed it too dangerous. He's been there through the recent storms.
Basically unless he had winter survival gear with him, and knew how to use it, he's toast. I don't know WHY he went there; he lives in North Hollywood and should have known how dangerous Baldy is. He even was spotted early on going to the most dangerous part of such a dangerous place.
Anyhow, he was in so many movies and TV shows, including genre stuff. I hope I'm wrong and it doesn't end up in another RIP entry.

Also, damn Disney. I mean really damn them, they've crossed the line this time. They are going to dock their huge, polluting, useless cruise ships 9 times a year at Catalina Island, one of my local favorites. It's a relatively small island, probably around 20 miles long and fairly narrow, with most of the land owned by the Catalina Island Conservancy, and most animals and plants there endangered. Outside of Avalon and Two Harbors, it's largely uninhabited, and neither town is capable of taking in thousands of extra people, they simply lack the infrastructure. These extra visitors will ruin the whole place, and inevitably some of them will stupidly get themselves killed by pissing off a buffalo or falling off one of the huge numbers of very high cliffs directly into the sea, where the great white sharks will eat whatever's left. Which also applies to the water sports. This isn't Hawaii; the water is very cold, with very strong currents, and huge giant kelp forests that hide the great whites while they stalk you, and plenty of sea lions to attract them.
