Bets as to who wins? Considering they're also suing a bunch of others including celebrities as well. I'd say they have a clear case for libel, especially against the Post and that Native American guy with the shady past, but I don't know the law in the respect. I doubt they'll get that amount, but maybe a fairly substantial amount. Just on the merits of the case as they are currently known, I would think the plaintiff would win this case. Unlike a lot of these cases, the plaintiff had no notoriety or public prominence prior to the media and some with public prominence bringing him into the public sphere. As such, there is an argument to be made their statements, which were false, damaged this boy's reputation. Did they damage it to the tune of $250 million (meaning he has been so damaged he will likely be unable to earn as he would have been had they not done this)? Hard to say. The boy is pretty young. If this follows him for his entire life, $250 million might not be that far off. By the way...how are you doing? Pretty much the same, still sick, still depressed, but I'm trying to find a bright side. Which in this case is I'm feeling a tiny bit better. |
