1) That is become a trend among libraries.
2) The patrons at my library still want to pay fines. We dropped fines I believe earlier this year.

Newsweek fired that reporter who did their story about how Trump was spending Thanksgiving playing golf and tweeting, which turned out to be a bad career move when it turned out that Trump was not in fact spending Thanksgiving playing golf, but rather serving troops that Thanksgiving Day dinner, in Afghanistan. Now Newsweek is trying to convince people they didn't entirely mean it. Rather stupid idea to me, to knowingly publish lies...knowing you'll be caught...

There was a shooting on the edge of the French Quarter in New Orleans, which shouldn't surprise anyone; that sort of thing happens there all the time. The surprise was in the number of injured, 11. That's a fair bit even for the Big Easy. For the record, it was on Canal Street, which is the border between the Quarter and the CBD. By brother used to live right around there, decent enough area for New Orleans, which can be dangerous no matter where you go. www.cnn.com/2019/12/01/us/new-orleans-shooting-french-quarter/index.htmlAh, looking at the map, it was Canal and Royal, which I recall having a lot of antique stores.

And watch if you walk in Jackson Square near the cathedral...walk well away from the center, which is shrouded in darkness, and is filled with homeless...and hundreds of thousands of roaches in the dark. Thousands of smashed ones near the darkest parts... Plus, don't walk the banks of the river, the homeless can be very aggressive, even deadly.

If you do not like that, I'd recommend avoiding San Francisco right now. Urine is the least of the smells and textures people have to deal with there at the moment.

Maybe New Orleans could use a good flooding to clean it out.

First street I ever smelled that stench on. It could and should be a great city...but it just isn't. The very first time I arrived there, my brother and I drove five minutes into the city right to a crime scene. Turns out some homeless dude walked up behind another dude in a park, and smacked him upside the head with a lead pipe, killing the guy. That's not too uncommon.
