RIP Jerry Stiller, (Seinfeld, Zoolander, way too many others to list), father of Ben Stiller, at 92. Now he and Anne Meara can play the Pocono clubs in the afterlife.

So in some sad news, LA County lifeguards found a body washed up on shore, presumably that of Shad Gaspard, former WWE wrestler from Cryme Tyme. No confirmation yet, but likely. Guy went out a hero, telling life guards to rescue his son first, which they did. He had vanished by the time they got back. It was likely due to very strong rip currents. I don't know if he didn't know the trick to living through those, or if he just didn't recognize what was happening, (I've been there, fortunately for me with a weak enough rip current that I could just outswim it, but that doesn't always happen).

RIP Shad Gaspard. His body was identified after having washed up on Venice Beach, the beach he was at when it happened. He and his son were hit by a large rogue wave and washed into the surf, where the son was rescued, but the father had vanished by the time rescuers were ready for him.

Damn, COVID has taken another victim, Pier One Imports. This, and related stores were a small, but happy part of my life, warranting the once a month shopping trip. And Pier One is DEAD, Jim, filing for liquidation of all of it's physical and intellectual properties. Which mean I suppose that someone could theoretically revive the chain in the future, but if that happens, it almost certainly will be online only.

BTW, that looks like my local mall after a big sale...
