Japan's PM Abe, who is IIRC their longest serving PM in modern history, is resigning for health reasons. Evidently, he's got some sort of chronic health issue or other. Bottom line is that's a big deal; he was very important regionally, and especially to the US, and of course is famous or infamous depending on your point of view for moving Japan away from their rather restrictive Constitution with respect to self defense, given the fact that the neighborhood has gotten a lot rougher recently with China and NK making moves.

We are facing a dangerous heat wave round where I live. Tomorrow, it's supposed to be 116 or 117 degrees, and the same Sunday. Which is bad for me since I work from home, (next week only has a slight cool down), and my house air con went out, with a six grand quote to fix it, (it needs to be completely replaced). All I have is two room air con units...not sure if they can handle it...and I have three dogs who need to be in that one room. Then there's the neighbors to worry about. While it's usually hot around this time, it's only ever been this hot before once, a couple of years ago. That...was 117 where I live, and 124 about ten miles away. That was brutal.

The British Museum has put many previously "lost" Hokusai inks online for public viewing. The artist is of course famous world-wide for his 36 views of Mt. Fuji, including probably the single most famous Japanese work of art, the famous print of the wave and Mt. Fuji. The museum bought over 100 Hokusai prints from a private collector. www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/news/20200905_11/

I'm trying to think of a word for someone stupider than humanly possible. Fortunately, I have an example to cite. So...it's been HOT here. In the 115s or so where I am, about that give or take a few everywhere in CA, with Woodland Hills hitting the record of 121. Which evidently makes it the perfect time to ignite an incendiary smoke grenade for a gender reveal party... In a state with hundreds of active wildfires. You can guess what happened. The El Dorado fire has now burned about 7000 acres and is basically uncontained, forcing the evacuation of 3000 residents. Nice going, guys. Fortunately, we have some Santa Ana winds coming midweek to further fan those fires. Thanks, 2020. But the worst part? I still don't know the damn gender of the baby! The stupid news reports neglected the most important part. Well, the one weird people like me will immediately think of...

So what do you guys think about the new Oscar by quota for Wokest Picture? Personally, after reminding myself that yes, rich actors and directors do in fact get together every year to break their own arms patting themselves on the back and telling the hoi polloi how much they hate them; I thought, "why the hell not?" It's in keeping with the Oscars, (it does seem that Idiocracy got it right, not only with the President, but also with great Best Picture winner "Ass", which consisted of nothing but video of butts, lots of them.), and will no doubt result in nearly three people not related to the nominees watching the show at home on TV, a massive increase in the audience for the event.
I can't help but think, "If only Hitchcock had thought to cast his movies and staff them according to a list of allowable people from the Academy! How much better his movies would have been then!" And also, on an unrelated note, imagine Ray Fisher and John Boyega working for Hitchcock back in the day! Imagine the tears as they learn the reality of Hollywood, and just how horrible directors can be to actors!

Sometimes, I fear for the future of humanity. When I myself am not planning to destroy and/or rule them all, of course. Take This. I mean FFS, I know people are ignorant, sometimes willfully, and university students are more ignorant and stupider than most, but damn, isn't there a stupid time out or something? And how stupid is USC? I hate to sympathize with China after all they've been pulling, but in this case I have to; this is some major league stupidity. This is what we tolerate. This is what we'll be getting much more of when President Harris and senile Bane are elected, since this is what they're for. Woke and stupid.

(sarcasm) I love it. Treat people like boxes to be checked off.

He "accidentally" social media posted what appears to be a camera roll with dick pic...leading to speculation from some of his fans if it was 'Lil Captain America. AFAIK, Cap hasn't commented, but the Hulk sure chimed in, pointing out that it's 2020, vastly raising the bar for being embarrassed.
