So I'm watching the Dodgers/Mets for Memorial Day, and on paper it's a good one, with two of the best pitchers in the game facing off, Jacob deGrom vs Clayton Kershaw.

So the Astros were playing the Mariners...and it was a BAD day for one Mariner. Verlander was pitching for the Astros...and a Mariner fouled the ball off. Man was that a FOUL ball. The guy fouled it off his own...balls. Yes, he suffered a ruptured testicle. Yes, he did NOT leave the game immediately, playing for another inning of two, proving that we are all wimps when we beg off work for a day for that pathetic broken leg or arm or something like that. Yes, he's tougher than I am. Also, he's a contestant on "Ow, My Balls".

So, the Rays seem to be exploring playing half their home games there, and half in Montreal...
More as it appears.

Well, with no one watching their home games, I suppose they had to try something. This wasn't what I thought they'd do; sounds more like a rejected plot for Major League movies. And it faces insurmountable obstacles IMO.

Off topic Maybe the NFL can do this with the Jaguars. Have them play half their games in Jacksonville and half in London

Off topic Maybe the NFL can do this with the Jaguars. Have them play half their games in Jacksonville and half in London Well, maybe they should spread the pain a bit... Plus, the Brits deserve that for being evil. This would be payback for all those Brit villains... But that Rays thing is apparently part of MLB's stated goal of putting another team in Canada, and they're also exploring putting a team or more in Mexico....which makes some sense in several different ways. Geographically, those are the only real options for MLB to expand outside of the US, (why not put more teams in the states that don't have any first though). Culturally too, Canada and Mexico don't have to be sold on baseball, unlike American Football. Meanwhile, fans continue to get hit by foul balls, as Cody Bellinger of the Dodgers hit a teenage girl, (she's okay thankfully), which tore the poor guy up. Hell, a lady was KILLED last year at Dodger Stadium vie a foul ball, so I don't know WHY the hell MLB, (or the Dodger for that matter), simply didn't order netting put up to the foul poles. That would stop the line drive fouls into the stands which give fans no time to react. Pop fouls of course still can go over the nets, giving fans the chance to catch one, and players routinely flip balls into the stands anyway, because they're nice people who were fans themselves. Besides, leaving the game alive trumps any so-called "fan experience". Teams can do what they want in their own stadium with respect to netting, and the Dodgers damn well had new netting put up after Bellinger accidently hit that girl....so why didn't they do that last year after that poor older lady was killed? I just don't get that. MLB, step up and ORDER every ballpark to do that. Don't recall if I mentioned this, but the Dodgers, currently the best team in MLB by a substantial margin, (followed at a distance by the Yankees and the Astros for the next best MLB records, (keeping in mind that some divisions are tougher than others), had a homestand against the Rockies, their biggest division rivals, (the Padres started strong but have faded. A homestand they swept in record fashion, sending three straight rookies to hit three straight walk-off home runs, an MLB record.

I saw a good chunk of it through Fox. Game 2 will be an ESPN exclusive. I imagine the Cubs/Cardinals series next year will be similar.

Happy Bobby Bonilla Day! Yes, campers, July 1 is Bobby Bonilla day, so named because of the slightly more than $1 million the Mets, (yes, baseball fans all knew the Mets would figure into this even if they don't know the details), will be paying Bobby till like 2035 or so. Which is interesting since he hasn't played for them this century. These sorts of contracts aren't unknown, but his was perhaps the best and funniest, which is important.

Sadly, Angels starting pitcher Tyler Skaggs was found dead in a motel room in Texas. The game, needless to say, has been postponed. He was 27. No cause is known yet. Can't say I know anything about him, since I live literally like 15 miles from the stadium in Anaheim, (which BTW is very much NOT Los Angeles, so stop with that Los Angeles Angels stuff guys), and therefore I can never watch them on TV. Yeah, they've got some streaming deal that blacks out their home market unless you pay. But, sorry to hear that, the guy just got married last year apparently.
And...as a typical baseball fan, I'm going to say that the Angels' rotation already sucked donkey balls, and now they're going to either have to call someone up, or pay for a trade...
