A terrible tragedy locally, (well, about a 120 miles away or so as the crow flies), a local dive boat caught on fire off the coast near Santa Cruz Island, and 34 are feared dead and missing. There was thick fog, but numerous private boats as well as the Coast Guard responded, but the boat was miles off shore, too far to swim in the night hours. I should explain for those who don't know our local geography, that Southern California has a bunch of islands just off shore, ranging from the most famous and biggest, Santa Catalina Island, visible from the coast where I am, about 24 miles or so across the sea. That island you've all seen, whether you know it or not, as it's been in too many movies and tv programs to count, and used to be the spring training facility of the Chicago Cubs, (it's was owned by the Wrigley family). There are other islands as well, mostly used as shooting galleries for the Navy, (like Santa Cruz island, farther out than Catalina, (also famous for its herd of bison, brought there for a movie shoot way back in the day), which you can sometimes see from the shore on the clearest days), or simply nature preserves where people aren't allowed. www.foxnews.com/us/people-killed-boat-fire-california-santa-cruz-islandThe local news coverage is heartbreaking. Relatives frantically trying to find information; ambulances leaving quietly with bodies.

Ugh, it doesn't look good. It seems to have been a gas explosion originating below deck....where the 34 divers were. Having seen the footage of the now sunk boat burning...there doesn't seem to be any hope any of the divers escaped alive.

As a sad follow-up to that dive boat fire off Santa Cruz Island, there are now 25 bodies recovered, with 9 more missing. In other horrible news, 9 kids were murdered in China in an attack on an elementary school. Method unknown, but in China such things are typically knife and or car attacks.

An overlooked news item in the "real estate" category; former President Obama and Michelle bought a little house. Yes, the President who famously asked at what point enough is enough in terms of riches, boldly declared that only applies to the little people. Yes, some day Obama might indeed pretend to be on the same planet as the "bitter clingers", but not THIS day! Yes, they paid about $15 million, (reportedly below market, because yes being a hyped former President has its perks), for a seafront property in IIRC Martha's Vineyard. When asked about the wisdom of buying a very expensive property literally RIGHT on the ocean, Obama pointed out that he HAD promised to "lower the waters" and heal the Earth, but only for right where his estate is, all the bitter clingers will still drown when we all die from global warming in 11 years, 3 months, 26 days, 4 hours, 12 minutes and 10 seconds. His mighty power will only save him and Michelle; the rest of us had better get to eating bugs instead of cows to save the planet or something. Still, when you think about it, the optics of President Global Warming buying a discounted $15 million seaside estate are....flawed to say the least. Almost as if he doesn't actually believe in the global warming....

So we all know that all scientists accept the idea of anthropomorphic climate change, with no exceptions, and certainly not any Nobel winning scientists. With that in mind, we need to come up with solutions. Thankfully, we have a few: Cannibalism! Yes, we all thought that Soylent Green was just some weird movie with Charlton Heston and the Rifleman among others, about General Mills' business model and ingredients list, but it turns out a Swedish scientist, (remind me to eat canned food from America if I ever visit, Swedish cuisine is a bit too...exotic for me), has proposed we eat Uncle Rick instead of planting him, or turning him into ash. But he does understand some people may not go for eating Sally from accounting, so he has an alternative: Eat Fido! And bugs! Personally, I think that's brilliant! Solves the global warming problem, the homeless problem, (just eat them), the pest problem, (all the middle class and poor will be able to eat some nice juicy cockroaches and flies), the homeless pet problem, (turn the animal shelters into all you can eat buffets), all with this one proposal! www.theepochtimes.com/swedish-researcher-pushes-human-flesh-eating-as-answer-to-future-climate-change-food-shortages_3068833.htmlIf you don't want to eat Gramps BTW, you evidently are a "selfish capitalist". Please feel free to make your own jokes.

However, if I were perpetually preaching the gospel of global warming, I probably wouldn't want to live right on the ocean.

So, the US government reported, and Trump evidently confirmed, (the confirmation reads like someone else wrote it IMO), that Mini-Me Bin Laden has assumed room temperature. Much like his father, he's both evil, and pining for the fjords. Rest in Pieces, Many, Many Pieces, Mini-Me. He was thought to have been about 30. Details of when and how Bin Laden was set for grinding up into another fine Beyond Meat Soylent Green burger, have not been released. Though a month ago or so there was some speculation Bin Laden was killed by the US. Trump said it happened in the Pakistan/Afghanistan region, which makes sense and is a....rather large area. www.yahoo.com/news/white-house-says-bin-laden-133356312.html

It's Kavanaugh II, Revenge of the Nerds, now playing in Washington only. What happened was that the New York Times, noted purveyor of...well, something, dug up another allegation against the Supreme Court Justice. The substance of which says that he rubbed his...tallywacker against a woman without her permission.

Continuing on with that last post, yes, all the Democratic players in the Presidential nomination game are calling for Kavanaugh's impeachment because...the Times lied about him again, putting forth a story of sexual harassment that the alleged victim doesn't recall happening. That does indeed sound like strong grounds for impeachment...yes, making stuff up again seems to be part of the playbook. And a couple of weeks ago, Christine Ford's lawyer admitted that the reason she did what she did was to put an asterisk next to Kavanaugh's name should he vote against Roe v Wade. As opposed to her claims actually having happened, which to be fair there was no evidence of at the hearings themselves.
