I recent read the Brute Force trade paperback which collected that team's original limited series from back in 1990: I got curious curious about whether they'd been used again and I discovered on Comic Vine that they had one more appearance in an issue of Deadpool: I've been trying to find out what happened to them in that Deadpool Annual, but so far I haven't had much luck. Did any of you read that issue? If so, what happened?

I had never even heard of Brute Force. That looks sort of cool.

I had never even heard of Brute Force. That looks sort of cool. The trade had a article to start off that detailed the history of how the limited series came about. The process started in 1988 and the idea was to create a series that Marvel could launch a toy line out of. The article didn't go into a lot of detail about the process of getting that idea into a workable story and then into print, but the series didn't come out until 1990, so it took a couple of years to fully come into being. Sadly, by the time it was published the comic book market had changed. The realization hit everyone involved that with comic book readership, by that time, being made up predominantly of adults, launching a successful toy line out of a comic book series just wasn't an idea that was going to work anymore. The sales for Brute Force weren't very good and all of the characters went into character limbo until that appearance in Deadpool Annual. Having now read it and now knowing the ideas behind it and the reasons for its existance, I have to say that I enjoyed what I read. I'm not going to say it was the best comic book series I've ever read, but for what it was it was fun.

I didn't enjoy the follow up in Deadpool as much as I thought I would though.

I just remember being happy to see them in the solicit so pre-ordered. I'm not the biggest deadpool fan (but have enjoyed a few stories with him in it), so it might just be me, but the story just seemed empty (well, it's about brute force but still) and the humor just didn't click with me.

Oh well, thanks. I'm going to assume that they're all still alive then. I figure you would probably remember if any had been killed. The issue doesn't sound like something I'd enjoy, so there doesn't seem to be any reason to track it down.
