I know I'm old school Avengers (i.e. pre-Bendis) and Storm simply is not Avenger material. She's far more for mutantkind than she is for everyone. The Avengers don't care what color, religion, gender, x-gene or not you are. I don't see Storm like that at all. Summed up best by Beast when he said (bottom right panel)...  |

I can't say that I see Storm that same way you do. She's the (is she still the wife of T'Challa or has Marvel dropped that story point?), and this marriage (or past marriage depending on what's happening -- as I said, I'm not sure of their current status) gives Storm what I see as and already made connection to the Avengers. It makes sense to me to take that final step given that already existing connection. |
