I bought the first issue of Meet the Skrulls last week. I did enjoy it and I'll admit that it does feel like a fresh take with the typical Skrull storyline told from the point of view of the Skrulls. Having said that I found myself stopping every once in a while to think that I'd be enjoying the story a lot more if Marvel hadn't done Secret Invasion.
I looked up Secret Invasion and was surprised to discover that it came out in 2008. Twelve years -- it doesn't seem that long ago. I think it's a testament to just what a bad idea that event was that it's still negatively affecting my enjoying of stuff from Marvel twelve years later.

I go back 4 more years to Disassembled when I became disillusioned with Marvel. I'll focus on one character for this, Hawkeye. Whenever I see him now, there's a part of my brain that thinks of Avengers #189 (his spotlight issue against Deathbird), leading the WCA, tricking the Grandmaster, 'waking up' in Morgan Le Fey's world, leading the Thunderbolts, etc. All great stuff for the purple archer. But then comes the images of him with the Wasp's panties in his belt (Austen), committing completely unnecessary suicide "Not like this", wanting to kill Norman Osborn (which I've never even read but heard all about), killing Bruce Banner, etc. Hawkeye's been tainted for me. Hopefully there'll be enough positive things in the future to push all that crap out. And don't get me started on Wanda.

After seeing Byrne write that character so that he refused to allow the Vision to be restored to the person he was before after Vision's memory was wiped just so that Wonder Man could have a chance at a relationship with the Scarlet Witch. I've seen Wonder man as complete scum ever since and my good opinion of him has never come back. It's not like he said numerous times before that that he saw the Vision as a brother after all.

Byrne did his dead level best to ruin every single character in that book. Fucking garbage-ass run. The only good thing he did was bring back Jim Hammond.

Could not disagree more (with the exception of bringing Hammond back.) But then I generally enjoy Byrne's work.

Loved Namor, AF, She-Hulk..Superman/Action and FF are all-timers...his WW was good... but that WCA run was trash-ass garbage. Straight up. Trash-ass. GARBAGE.

I kind of forget Byrne's run on WCA. I think I liked part of it, but after a while, it lost its charm.
Yeah I used to like Wonder Man, but the relationship with Wanda and how he's been recently, not so much.
