What I mean by hole in MU history is a group of characters that Marvel used to have the publishing rights to and whose adventures were set in the Marvel Universe, but whose history is essentially a hole in MU continuity at the moment due to marvel no longer holding those rights. This question came into my head after reading last week's Savage Sword of Conan #3 and Avengers: No Road Home #6 and seeing Conan interacting with other Marvel Universe characters.
For me I think I'd most like to see the Micronauts history opened up to be explored in Marvel titles. It kind of sucks that part of that team can be used by Marvel, but not the other, and vice versa for IDW. It just doesn't seem right having the characters split up the way they are.

I guess I'd have to agree about Micronauts. They were pretty intertwined in the comics of my youth. Plus I liked many of those characters.
I wouldn't mind seeing Rom as well, but aside from the Wraith stuff, he wasn't in as many comics that I liked. Of course I'd like to see the Shogun Warriors back too.

As a World War II buff, I'd like to see a return to that era - but explored better than previous attempts. Marvel's Fury or Kelly stories were always too sanitized for me (unlike Sgt. Rock where characters actually died). There's still so much to explore for the Howling Commandos (that doesn't include any Invader/Lib Legion guest stars/cross-overs).
Over at DC, I still have a gaping abyss waiting for Helfer/Baker's Shadow to finish. I simply loved their devil may care attitude their run had only to see their last cliffhanger unresolved because of cancellation.
Also, i think it'd be funny if DC finally published Ambush Bug Year None #6 (for those not in the know, the ABYN mini went #1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 7.)

I would like more Killraven and the whole War of the Worlds alternate timeline/Earth-691. Marvel has made hints they going to have a big crossover event dealing with that, but nothing really has happened.

I'd be willing to pay money for Marvel to get exclusive use of Rom, Micronauts, Visionaries, and GI Joe. Exclusive use in perpetuity. I don't really mind if they put a comic out or not, I just don't want to risk them oozing back into the Transformers again.

… Then also bought Transformers?!

Buying IPs is the Disney way, so I can see that happening.

Please, don't give them ideas.
