There will be some minor spoilers for Avengers: No Road Home in the following post, so be warned.

On the past few issues of Avengers: No Road Home the writers have been making it really clear just how powerful Monica Rambeau has now become. She managed to transform herself into neural electrical energy and run herself through the Scarlet Witch's brain to allow a blinded Wanda to cast her spells without being able to see what she was doing. In issue #7, that came out this past week, she had a thought monologue in which she speculated on the fact that she's now immortal and what that would do to her in the upcoming millenniums that she's probably going to live.
This got me thinking about how powerful she's now become and if she might be too powerful. I liked her at the power level she had back in the 80s when she was still Captain Marvel. She fit in well as a member of the Avengers and there's a part of me that's wanted to see he back as a member of that team on a monthly basis. With her as powerful as she is right now she fits more in with Marvel's cosmic characters and not the Avengers.
On the other hand, it is cool to see a character I've always liked being given a certain level of respect. She definitely has been given that in this series.
What do the rest of you think?

I saw that she's 'living radiation' now so I suppose that would amp her powers a bit. I also liked the call-out that her leadership skills were rusty - nice for someone to acknowledge she once lead the Avengers.
Apart from NRH, I think the last time I saw her was in JLAvengers and no idea how long it's been before that (maybe Busiek's Morgan Le Fey story) - still I always liked her well enough and I'm glad she's not permanently in Limbo (for now).

As you know, I am some five months behind in reading, so am not up to date on stuff. I've always liked Monica, and felt bad about the short shrift she would often get. Always thought her powers had near-unlimited potential that wasn't really utilized in the comics. Then again, I don't like it much when characters are too powerful so I hope there is a limit. Then again, she was an Ultimate and Ultimate 2.

The level of threat that team was dealing with suited Monics's current power level very well.

Yeah I liked her in Ultimates as well. Only thing I wasn't crazy about was her relationship with Brashir. I'm not much for superhero relationships unless they seem to "naturally" occur. I didn't feel like there was an impetus before they started theirs.

Beyond the big ones like Reed and Sue and Clark Kent and Lois Lane, none of them are meant to be permanent anymore. The last one that grabbed me was Starlord and Kitty Pryde and once again it ended way before it should have.

Most of the pairings I did like are kaputz sadly (eg. Vision & Scarlet Witch, Hank & Jan, Kitty & Colossus, etc).

That's the one pairing that all these years later I'm still pissed off about the fact that it was ended. Even ending Peter and Mary-Jane doesn't set me off as much as that one.

I see their point, but it kind of feels like they're holding onto a fight that was lost years ago. I wish the Avengers don;t kill rule was still in effect. However, that aspect of the team got thrown out with Austin and every writer has followed suit since.
