Anyone seen Terminator: Old Fate? It seems to be bombing, and I'm wondering why, oversupply of Terminator movies? Old Arnold and Linda a bit off-putting as action types at age 456? Thrown by Gabriel Luna not just using hellfire on Arnold and that lady?
Also, anyone seen Eddie Murphy's comeback "Call me Dolemite"? I hear it's good, (Netflix or Amazon, I can't recall which, haven't had time yet myself).

The new Terminator movie, Terminator: Dark Fate, made just a ton of mis-steps, both in the lead up to it and in the plot itself. Not surprising it is not doing well at the box. JOKER, however, is still going strong. Looks like it is going to hold the number 3 slot in this weekend's box office take, which means it has stayed in the top three for the first month of its' release. It has a chance, albeit a small chance, to reach the $1 billion mark.

I hope this turns out to be it, and they start giving him roles like he used to get. In the meantime, I'll see it as soon as I can. Terms...I think I'll give it a miss. As for Joker, on a possibly funny side note, someone recut the stair scene to make it into a fake ED commercial...

Probably sacrilege to write this, but I think this is the best Star Wars film ever made.

After having seen Eddie Murphy's great comeback, I'm now ready for this; maybe next weekend. From the Murphy Netflix movie's end credits, this looks hilariously awesome, just like Murphy made it seem. Back to Murphy...he's as awesome today as he ever was, maybe more. I went in expecting Beverly Hills Cop, or maybe his standup stuff, but instead got something that had me scratching my head for a bit as to why on-screen audiences in the movie for his act were laughing---his stuff wasn't funny to me at that point. But the movie later makes a point of showing black audiences including Murphy's character, Moore, can't understand a Jack Lemon comedy, (which to be frank also had me wondering why THAT was funny), and how the white record company execs also can't figure out why Moore's stuff is funny, the point being that different audiences like different things....which is such a duh moment you wonder why no one else has noted this in a movie. More, this movie is also an homage to the 70s, Blacksploitation movies, (which are wonderful), and surprisingly black entrepreneurship particularly in the 70s. Murphy is splendid in a role that combines comedy, (most of which comes later in the movie, after they start making Dolemite), and drama with pathos. Honestly, this movie makes you remember why you loved Murphy; he's hands down IMO our most brilliant comedian and stand-up guy, and one of our best overall actors period. It's easy to overlook that side of him; his brilliance in comedy is so overwhelming, you tend to focus on that. It's a great comeback piece IMO....IF his fans know to see this, available NOW on Netflix, "Dolemite Is My Name" is funny, compelling, touching at times, and just a pleasure to watch. I really, really HOPE Murphy is now cast in a lot more movies, (BTW, this one seems to have been a labor of love for Murphy, and it shows. I mean damn, I would nominate him for a Best Actor nod in the Oscars if I could; and it would be richly deserved IMO. A word on the supporting case; it was stellar. Wesley Snipes of course is also brilliant at comedy as Major League has already proven; and I hope HE also pursues that. But to the point, he was also very funny, and the rest of the cast was uniformly great. Snoop Dogg was surprisingly funny. Yeah, I know his persona in real life seems to also be that way, but to be funny when you're trying to be, reading lines someone else wrote; isn't a gimme skill. Mike Epps, great. Chris Rock makes a welcome appearance, and in a twist, has a straight, rather than comedic role, and is perfect in it. But if I had to pick a stand-out actor here apart from Murphy himself, it would be Da'Vine Joy Randolph as Lady Reed. A great, moving performance.

Did the director's cut make this movie any better, or is it still shit?

Did the director's cut make this movie any better, or is it still shit? Well...this movie was never shit, so I guess I would say it made improvements to a classic.
