Damn. I knew it was coming of course, he's been in the news for a while now with the dementia thing, but it hurts none-the-less. I recall him from watching reruns of a show considerably older than me, McHale's Navy. He was great and always funny, and by all accounts he was a great person. RIP to one of my favorites.
I am so sorry he and his family and friends had to go through dementia; I went through that with my mom and dad, it was horrible. Having someone you love and who was with you your entire life no longer recognize you and get angry at you for things that never happened is horrific. I hope they find out how to prevent and cure it; no one should ever have to go through it again.
