With issue 11 MAD will start reprinting material.

It took DC 1 reboot and 10 issues to kill it. Thats a new record.

What killed it is the same thing that plagues almost every publication today - the internets. MAD should have gone the Cracked route ages ago and moved on-line - they didn't and it's "What Me Worry" to the nth degree.

At least they'll still be the reprint issues which will hopefully cull the best of MAD over the decades: Harvey Kurtzman, Jack Davis, Wally Wood, Mort Drucker, Dave Berg, Don Martin, Sergio Aragones, Al Jaffee, Lou Silverstone, etc.

Sad that they are folding.
Loved many a creator from that magazine, eg. Al Jaffee, Don Martin, Mort Drucker, and of course Sergio Aragones
MAD fans should be worried.

Have you been to Cracked lately? It's nothing but lists. True, they haven't been funny in years. Some of the old, actually funny writers are back again. It's still mostly lists (it's been mostly lists for a long time), but Brockway and Seanbaby have both contributed again, so things are looking up.
As for the end of Mad, I haven't found it truly funny in a while. It seems like WB didn't want them tearing into anything they did too much, so a lot of the humor varied between neutered and trying too hard to be edgy.

I mentioned some of the old Greats from MAD - How dare I forget to mention Basil Wolverton!

I mentioned some of the old Greats from MAD - How dare I forget to mention Basil Wolverton! Yeah I knew him more for his covers of Plop! Very distinctive.
