I still think that just when we all think we're safe, he'll pop up again to menace the good citizens of...wherever, with visions of Flashpoint and the nu52. Remember, he still hasn't achieved his life's ambition of killing off Dick Grayson. I mean Ric...er, never mind.

I wonder how this is going to affect 5G. I'm sure most of us would hope that this kills it. Besides that, let's have an Earth shattering event that lasts only 6 panels and in it... DC, dumps Bendis, gives Clark his ID back, de-ages Jon, and cancels the shit show that is 'Bendis's Legion of Super-Heroes Team' (which I anagram as BLSHT). 'Herpes in Crisis' is revealed to have been blasted by Darkseid's Omega Beams so that it never existed. Wally is still the symbol of 'rebirthed hope' in the DCU. Catwoman pulls a pillow out from under her costume and says "Gotcha!". Feel free to add your own.

In my rebooted version, there's no need for Wally to be the "rebirthed hope" of the DCU, since Superman, WW, and the rest never lost theirs. Honestly, there was a very big tonal shift around the time Didio and Johns came into the DCU. Granted, maybe some shift was needed, given some of the 90s comic book output, but not the one we got. How much of it was Didio, and how much was Johns is impossible to say from the outside. But since Johns eventually was called creative director for the DCU, I'm guessing he had rather more input than Didio. Didio seemed to delight in trolling people, which really wasn't his job. He wanted that, he could have signed on with the WWE. All in all, I'm very glad he's gone from DC; but like Johns, I'm wondering how gone he is. Pretty sure that Johns for instance is still the major single influence on both DC and the WB DCEU stuff. Does sure sound to me like he was fired though...maybe DC finally might turn the corner and become good? Naw...

Rumor now is if 5G fails AT&T is closing down DC Comics. That rumor is from Ethan Van Sciver, so, like a lot of what he believes, it's probably bunk.

You know, normally I am right there with you, but there have been rumblings of AT&T looking to shut down DC for a year or two now. I think there is a 50-50 chance of it happening. Comic people do not seem to really understand the corporations that own these IPs do not need comic books to make money off them anymore.

They don't need comics to make money from the IPs, but they do need them to maintain their rights to many of said characters. Comics, whether print or digital, are a cheap way to publish lesser but still valuable characters and keep them in copyright.
Back to Didio though, any clue as to WHY he was canned? Is it certain he was fired, or was it just a really unusual and suspicious case of him quitting? And why now? Why not ages ago when it first became apparent he was completely unsuited for the role? Personally, I think that ATT's hand might have been seen there.

Well, they'd have copyright rights to all the DC characters for about 70 years or so, so I think they like their odds.
Seriously, comic book people really cannot see how fringe they truly are right now.

Maybe the rumor was started by DC Comics to ensure people would by the 5G comics.
It'll save them the $10 to produce another TV ad like they did for Rebirth or the New52.
