You must choose a side - John Byrne - Do you like his DC, Indie or Marvel work more? This is for JB's role as both the writer and the artist of comic books. Superman | Star Trek New Visions | Fantastic Four | Wonder Woman | Next Men | Avengers West Coast | New Gods | Rog 2000 | Namor | Generations | Danger Unlimited | X-Men Hidden Years | The Demon | 2112 | Alpha Flight |

For me Alpha Flight resolves this question with no doubt

His WCA and his Superman runs almost make me vote DC just by themselves, but the rest of his Marvel work (in particular the FF, Namor, Alpha Flight and She-Hulk stuff) is strong enough to overcome the existence of the WCA debacle, and none of his non-Supes DC stuff rises to a level high enough to compete with that. So Marvel it is.

Hard one for me. I hate the X-Men with a passion, so there's that. Didn't matter whether it was him on it or not. His Wonder Woman wasn't to my taste, thought it did introduce some important elements that have continued to this day. His art isn't really to my taste either. It's not that it's bad, like Leifeld, just that it's highly stylized, and that style isn't my taste. Obviously, there are some equally stylized artists who are, but he just isn't. I don't know, but even though I hate the X-Men, he did have a very important run there---so i'm going to have to go with his Marvel stuff for sheer influence. The only things that might hold me back were MoS, other Superman stuff, and WW.

When you say JB had a "very important run" are you basing that on his art/plots with Claremont? if so, that's not part of this - just the stuff where he was writer/artist.

You left off a couple from the independents: Babe, Hellboy, and Cold War, for example.
Tough one for me as I am admittedly a big fan of Byrne's work. But what tips the scales for me is his Fantastic Four run, which is right up there with Lee and Kirby's for me.
Marvel for the win.

By the way, if you have not tried Star Trek: New Visions, I highly recommend it. Great fun.

I was indeed talking about his run with CC. But that leaves me out on this one, as I just haven't liked his stuff enough to follow him closely enough to decide.

There, see, that's my problem right there, I remember Babe, I bought it and read it, but for the life of me I can't recall anything about it. And I didn't even know he had a run on Hellboy.

I will say Marvel because I loved his She-Hulk run.

He was actually involved with the original run. Yeah - as co-writer in a Next Men back up iirc.
