Nice moment pregame. Hank Aaron was there with Yelich, the NL Aaron Award, and no Mike Trout, (AL Aaron Award), probably due to either rehab or some other commitment. Shame the best player in the game will never actually play in a Series. Yelich was standing around with no apparent trouble, so fans can take solace that he seems to be recovering from that broken kneecap. Aaron looked good for his advanced age, though he was bent over a cane.

Gotta hand it to Simone Biles, this has to be the most unique first pitch I've ever seen! Just wish she had been able to throw it mid flip... Yeah, she and others have done similar things before, but it's still more fun than a regular first pitch.

Nationals have opened things up in the 7th! 8-2 with two outs. They finally knocked Verlander out of the game and then knocked his relief out of the game. And IIRC the final score was 11-2 or something similar. Again, I thought the Nats just wanted it more. Verlander seemed genuinely thrown at the start, and the Astros defense suddenly seemed like they subcontracted the Dodgers for that role. A comedy of errors, (literally). Springer for example seemed to just give up on plays. There was a bit where another near home run came, and he watched it hit above his head, but still inside, and didn't play for the bounce but just watched it and gave up on it. So, Nats are up 2-0, with today a travel day, (damn, last year my birthday was also a travel day in the Series, will I never get a game on this day). There will follow three games at the Nats, if necessary. Again I'm going to call it for the Nats, either in a sweep, or in seven. Looking more and more like a sweep. The Astros will be starting Greinke, their third best starter...but also a good hitter, (for a pitcher), with three round trippers this season with the D-Backs, and he'll be pitching at a National League park, which means no DH, and that the pitchers must hit. So he's a good fit for the situation, and could hardly do worse than the Astros two aces. We'll see. Nats won game two 12-3. They just went nuts after the 6th inning. Batting completely around the order in the 7th and scored in ever inning from the 7th on.

It was one of my favs on the team Kurt Suzuki, who got the ball rolling with his HR off Verlander, (he's had Verlander's number over the years). I've long thought he was greatly underrated, both defensively and at bat. Had a sweet pick-off move at one point from behind the batter, didn't get the runner, but still a nice move.

I think he got Altuve early in game 2. Dude got greedy going for 3rd.

Just everyone on the Nats seem to be hustling more than the Astros, maybe because the Astros have that title from two years ago, while the Nats just don't.

Still a lot of baseball to be played but maybe, just maybe, the Nationals are the better team.

And that is how it ended. Houston takes their first game of the series. So far, no one has won at home!

Astros tie up the series after destroying the Nats last night 8-1. It was kind of funny; I was watching this with my brother, and as soon as that reliever came up, he said, "That's it, the Astros won". At the time they were losing 4-1. The guy then finished loading the bases and my brother said, "Grand Slam", just like twenty seconds before Bregman hit his Slam. My brother is still bitter about Rodney's tenure with the Angels... I also figured the guy was going to fuck up, but I kept teasing him with the Dodgers' Maeda, who I noted I once saw give up a five run home run, he was so bad. But yeah, Rodney was terrible. OTOH, the Astros rookie pitcher seems to me to have secured next year's fourth starting slot for the Astros; he ironically in this series of Cy Young candidates was the best pitcher for either side so far. I'm good either way.

I also have to hand it to the Astros' pitcher; he not only got the job done pitching, he was also absolutely hilarious at bat. Guy barely knew which end of th bat was which. Pro tip for him; maybe spend some time with the Astros' hitting coach and maybe also say Altuve, and learn how to at least look good...and less terrified, when at bat. Also, next time, don't run away in terror when the pitcher throws a ball across the plate; that's what it looks like from the batter's end. Shohei Otani he aint...

Ooooh, Scherzer is scratched with trape spasms, Ross replacing him vs Cole, who's looking to avenge being embarrassed by being made to look mortal.
