I'm assuming I dont have to see Captain Mary Sue to get this? All I have to know is that she's the bestest heroist person ever because reasons? Bit behind on my moviegoing, haven't seen that one, Aquaman, or Shazam, and I don't want to go into that knowing that Captain Mary Sue's memories are suddenly going to be critical to the plot without my knowing why. Oh noes girl SUPERHEROES?!?! Better call a new meeting of G.R.O.S.S.

Considering that I very occasionally rant on about a character who is very similar to Carol Danvers. And that my only problem with the film Wonder Woman was that the execution sucked, especially in the third act and with any of the characters not named Wonder Woman, especially all the bad guys. I asked the question because I have not seen Captain Marvel, and heard that she came off as both way too overpowered and more than a bit Mary Sueish. Which you have to admit s a problem these days with far too many characters. That may not be right, but at this point the odds of my seeing Captain Marvel before Avengers are almost nil. Hence my question about whether that movie is key to understanding Endgame.

Since I'm not going to be able to get to a theater to see the movie (medical reasons) I am trying to find a full spoiler review/recap so I can keep up with the conversation and fandom. Trouble is that people (assholes) keep trying to hide them under the mistaken impression that they are doing me some sort of favour. I care less about being spoiled and "seeing it fresh" than I do being able to keep up with the fandom and the story. They either try to hide the spoiler reviews or try to drown them out with fake joke spoilers. Look, if you don't like spoilers then fine. Please do not try and ruin it for those of us who do though, because if you are doing that then you are exactly as much of an asshole as those who posts them unmarked in an unmarked thread. #PleaseSpoilEndgame It's probably because the embargo on reviews is still on. And there's been a press screening (not sure about overseas), but not much more than that.
Soon.
Review embargo actually ended yesterday. They started popping up on RT (currently at 97% fresh after 151 reviews, which if it holds at that number would tie Black Panther for highest Marvel movie rating on RT) late afternoon.

I actually loved Carol right up until the point (beginning post-Civil War) that Marvel started trying to turn her into their Wonder Woman and pushed her as this uber-powered "better than everybody" Mary Sue, while at the same time giving her a shitty new costume and a shittier new haircut in efforts to de-sexualize her (and look, I get why they did it, but they course-corrected SO hard that it was just jarring and frankly made her look fugly...they've come back around with an improved look lately, but I still miss the earlier looks).
But yeah, I dug the movie well enough. Solid mid-tier Marvel offering.

Here's my thing with MCU Carol...she was fine as uber-powered in her own movie. And she'll be fine I think as one of the most powerful Avengers. But the second they start trying to sell her as more powerful than Thor, Hulk, or Vision, I'm going to have issues.

Have they not already stated that she's far and away the most powerful hero in the MCU?
