I liked this movie...BUT. It's too long, and would benefit by eliminating about half an hour, all from the human story, which is no way near as interesting as the monsters. The movie wastes Dance, David Str...er, whatever his last name is, the great but wasted Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins. Next time they try this, if they ever do after the results of this one, they need to reduce the human part...AND make them good. Apart from a few characters who get killed, and a couple of minor character, I didn't like anyone in this, (humans of course). The hero...was right, but bland. Millie Bobby Brown didn't interest me at all. Too many of the humans were caricatures, and boring ones at that.

Who said it was Pets 2? Another movie is that forgettable that you've forgotten IT ALSO is coming out right along with Pets 2. Late Night?   Like a PHOENIX you've risen to the challenge but have chosen a very DARK movie. |

I have not seen the second Godzilla movie yet, but I liked the first one well enough. None of them are Shin Godzilla. That may well be the best Godzilla film ever made. |

I have not seen the second Godzilla movie yet, but I liked the first one well enough. None of them are Shin Godzilla. That may well be the best Godzilla film ever made. For that last honor, my vote goes for Gojira, (1954), the Japanese version of course. Skull Island IMO was indeed overrated, but still the best of the WB Godzillaverse stuff. I HATED Kick-Ass and the Scarlet Witch in the first one, hated that Bryan Cranston was killed off before Godzilla even happens, and hated the coy cut away from the monster fights to show stupid human drama about characters no one gives a damn about. KoTM unfortunately was worse. With cackling, mustache twirling villains...but the worst thing was they managed to take what amounts to Destroy All Monsters and make it...boring. Sadly, Stranger Things, (who was terrible much like everyone else in the movie), and her dad will be back, sans any Early Editions to help them and more importantly the audience. The monster designs were great, as was the technical execution, but I was nearly asleep by the time the movie was over. The actual BEST thing in that movie for me was when the soundtrack suddenly broke into the familiar strains of the greatest monster movie music bar maybe Jurassic Park ever done. Including the classic Godzilla theme was the best decision that movie made. Haven't seen Shin Godzilla. |
