Spinning out of the Kurt Busiek thread... You must choose a side - J.M. DeMatteis - Do you like his DC or his Marvel work more? Justice League International/America | Spectacular Spider-Man | Doctor Fate | Defenders | I... Vampire | Silver Surfer | Justice League of America | Daredevil | Booster Gold | Captain America | Scooby-Doo Apocalypse | Marvel Team-Up | Formerly Knows as Justice League | The Gargoyle | The Spectre | Man-Thing | Legends of the Dark Knight | Amazing Spider-Man | Justice League Dark | Daredevil | Farewell Moonshadow | Moonshadow |

Well, he's my favorite comic writer ever, so it's tough to pick a side, but I lean toward his Marvel stuff. His Booster run was fun, Spectre is great, I enjoy I...Vampire more than I would ever expect myself to, I love the tail end of that Detroit League era and the JLI stuff is obviously fantastic, but his Marvel stuff has more, bigger hits for me. Hell, his MTU, PPTSSM (at least through issue 200) and Cap runs are all in my top 10 favorite runs of any book all time, and that's before I even mention Amazing 400 and a little tale called Fearful Symmetry/Kraven's Last Hunt.

You're wrong. I'm right. That is the way of the cosmos.

He who smelt it dealt it. I can't smell anything; therefore logic demands it's either you, or ancient aliens from the first Thanksgiving.

I love him where ever he is so deciding is tough.
I first discovered him on Creature Commandos and that led me to I... Vampire (both of which I truly love). His Defenders was just okay, but JLI - pure magic with Giffen (still is on SDA). But as classic as Stern/Byrne Cap was, I like JM/Zeck/Neary's Cap even more. I loved Dr. Fate. Moonshadow was just epic (pun intended). I was never a big Surfer fan but I was during his time on the book. And I thank him every time I pick up an issue of Daredevil for JM's purging away Chichester armor-plated DD. JM made me give a damn about Man-Thing (no one else ever has).
Going Sane is probably my favorite thing he's done (solo) at DC. Kraven's Last Hunt being the top at Marvel.
If I have to pick - it'll be Marvel.

JLI tips the scales here. Kraven's Last Hunt tips the scales.

Moonshadow was Marvel. But DC was smart enough to reprint it.
