I think this is a smoking gun that DC does have favorites, and those characters it hates. It seems that among TPTB in charge now Wally is one of those they hate. There are others, of course, including Power Girl. This is what they do to the characters they hate. I think it was Didio and Johns who made this the culture at DC and WB.

I'm not reading, but this feels like a very stupid move, stupid enough that, even if I'm not a big Wally fan, I probably won't be getting the trade or anything. I mean, regardless of Tom King's reasoning behind it. They turned Hal evil, they turned Cass and Mary Marvel, when has this EVER GONE RIGHT?! I know King is trying to tell a human story about PTSD, supplanting soldiers with superheroes, but you're telling me no one thought to say, "hey, we have precedence saying making a hero a killer is a bad idea" or something?! Or did King say he "loved reading Wally West when he first appeared", and that made everything okay? That'd be consolation enough, right?
They could always backflip later and say it was a clone or mind-control or a simulation (a theory many were throwing around), but it's still going to leave a foul impression with readers.

I can't even find the words to respond. I think I'm going to be sick. Don't be too concerned, vomiting is a common response to DC Comics. So are itching and redness. If it persists, discontinue use of DC Comics and see your doctor immediately.

At this point you have to wonder WHY DC keeps doing this. It's stupid, fans hate it, and DC must know that. Some stories just aren't suited for the superhero genre, or at least need to be a remove from your franchise characters, as Watchmen was. Yes, King wanted to tell this particular story, but I assume there were adult editors in the room who had the power to say, fine, but not for us. Write it as a novel, using characters without powers if you have to, but don't screw up established characters because one guy wanted to tell one grimdark story he thinks will "change everything". That mostly is not what comics are about. Very few stories in the genre are truly special or original, and even fewer resonate beyond a few years. I'd put the true number at perhaps a couple dozen in total, including such classics as DKR, Watchmen, Batman Year One, and some Marvel stuff. This thing hopefully will be forgotten very quickly.

Well...he's emphasizing as much as he can. I REad it so you don't have to. I am 100% blaming this on dan didiot after he said he was going to fuck up wally west instead of nightwing at that con.
