This is the only movie I ever got to see unfinished, in a free preview showing. Had to rate all sorts of things in exchange for seeing it.  |

 This one was an absolute gem, a weird combination of Western and a movie about old Hollywood. Made more fun when you realize that while this movie is fiction, Wyatt Earp, (James Garner in the movie, with a movie within a movie, scenes from Hour of The Gun, and old Wyatt Earp movie where Earp was a much younger Garner, and Jason Robards played Doc Holliday), and Tom Mix were in fact friends, with Mix one of Earp's pallbearers, (he died in 1927 IIRC, but not before very much impressing a young extra named John Wayne, who for the rest of his career aped Earp---so now you know where that weird walk and manner of his came from), and stuff like the rest of the plot did sort of happen in Old Hollywood. It also showcases the beautiful parts of California and Los Angles. Yes, Wyatt Earp was in Hollywood till the late 20's, and one of his famous friends, Bat Masterson was a boxing ref and sports writer for the times. He had a habit of wearing his gun to those boxing matches, and strangely never had anyone at all ever dispute his reffing, finally also dying in the twenties at his desk at the Times. One of both of their finest movies IMO, and Malcom McDowell plays the bad guy for some reason; I don't think I've ever seen him do that before... |

 Under the Rainbow - Definitely on a list of movies that wouldn't be allowed to be made today. But at least you could see Carrie Fisher in bra and panties before Return of the Jedi. |
