In news that should please many here, Didio is officially out at DC.
Hopefully the higher-ups finally caught wind of this "5G" debacle that they've been planning and finally told ol' Danny boy no mas.

If true, I'll be happy, but it's like those slasher flicks, you never know when they'll pop back up.

He still has Metal Men to finish (which is a fun book). Too bad Waid just signed on with Humanoids.

Are we sure this isn't an April Fool's prank?
Y'know, a rebooted and "improved" April Fools that happens in late February?

So....let's....just for the sake of argument, the I had a friend, yes, a friend, and this friend mostly stopped reading DC after Flashpoint, with sporadic nu52 reading, largely based on the series. And based on THAT horror show, I....I mean my friend, pretty much dropped mostly everything DC related, save for the oddball thing now and then.
So, for that....friend, can someone just give a snapshot of where the DCU is now, listing status quo for the major heroes and teams, and elaborate on where DC is headed?
And after that, can you please summarize Proust?

And after that, can you please summarize Proust? Proust's novel ostensibly tells of the irrevocability of time lost, the forfeiture of innocence through experience, the reinstallment of extra-temporal values of time regained, ultimately the novel is both optimistic and set within the context of a humane religious experience, re-stating as it does the concept of intemporality. In the first volume, Swann, the family friend visits someone and something happens. The End.

So, for that....friend, can someone just give a snapshot of where the DCU is now, listing status quo for the major heroes and teams, and elaborate on where DC is headed? Rebirth happened. Here's some of what's happened since... Superman:Clark & Lois married, have a son Jon (who's best friend is Batman's kid). Things were going great, then Bendis happened and the world now knows Clark is Superman (and Jon get's artificially aged so that he can join the Legion of Super-Heroes - even though Conner 'Superboy' Kent is back. Basically, it's unreadable. Batman: Got engaged to Catwoman (who leaves Bats at the alter). She might be pregnant now. There's a Batman from another universe who's a perverse reflection of Bats that's currently causing a lot of chaos. Justice League: Spent the last few years trying to stop Lex and his Legion of Doom. Ted Cord is back and hangs out with Booster. Dr. Manhattan visits the DCU and plays around with time (he's the true force behind Flashpoint). He eventually realizes he's fucked things up and leaves. Wally West makes it into the DCU and pretty quickly he accidentally kills a bunch of C-List heroes. He eventually becomes the new Metron with Dr. Manhattan overtones. (No, I did not make this up). The Justice Society is back. The Legion of Super-Heroes are back (but they've been Bendisized and it's awful).

Hey! I liked Bendis' writing on a completely different character, and by someone else's logic, that means he can do no wrong at any time, with any character, ever ever ever!!!

But yeah, that aged up Jon Kent stuff was pretty hackneyed the first time they did it with Chris Kent.

Though a few things stand out as being rays of light. Ted and Booster back together again has to be good. The JSA being back is nice...though AFAIK, which isn't much, they're sort of back in the sense of being in panels for group fights without much interesting yet. Superman and his family? Argh! The Bats? Argh! Wally? Argh! Lex? Argh! What's up with Wonder Woman and the Green Lanterns? Last I checked, the Perez version of the contest was still around for Wondy, though I did hear of some silly goddess stuff, and the GLs were exploding a paint store's worth of different corps, none of which showed any originality. Though I did like the cat, Dex-Starr.
