A sad update to yesterday's quake off the coast of Japan. Four people have died as a result, falls, heart attacks, that sort of thing. Damn, I thought they were going to be okay once the tsunami risk receded. Offshore, I thought, the shaking can't be enough to hurt people on land. Shows to never underestimate these things, I guess.

Oh that's a bummer. I spoke to my friend yesterday and her and her family were fine, did not even experience the power outage. They are in Yokohama, pretty far from sendai.  |

I've been through a few bigger than this one, and it's not fun. You never know when it's going to be over, and it always lasts too long. You sit there wondering if the whole building is going to collapse on you or not. I thought some footage they had of this one, with trains rocking from side to side a huge amount on the tracks, was pretty scary.

Missed this overnight. They had a tsunami warning but it was cancelled.
