Low Key, this was always one of my favorite threads at the Outhouse. It would be a shame for these new forums to not have a similar thread. So...what are you reading?

Currently reading Tank Girl-Carioca. Mike McMahon's art is a departure from the usual Tank Girl style, so it took a little getting used to. But the story is bonkers as always.

Reading 'Man and Superman', by Wolfman and Castellini. Not bad.

I'm still at a standstill somewhere in the middle of Lumberjanes. I just haven't had the time to progress any further. I can't wait to see what's going on though.

Okay, I'm a bit confused. Yes, I know, that's something everyone here knows, but I'm talking about terminology, not in general. Basically, what's the difference between a graphic novel and a trade paperback. I think I know, but I'm not sure. My take is that a graphic novel was written to be released in one go, while a trade would be that one thing that collects previously written issues of a serial comic book. Am I right? Because if so, I have a lot of trades, and few GNs.
Part of my confusion stems from the term OGN...alongside other uses just saying "graphic novel", which to me implies that my assumption above is not correct.

For the purposes of this thread, they are essentially the same thing. However, per the Googles, a graphic novel is a "novel in the format of a comic-strip." A trade paperback is "any book with a flexible cardstock cover than is larger than a standard mass market paperback book."

Trade paperbacks are traditionally a softcover edition of a book, in contrast to a hardcover edition. Graphic novel was popularized in an attempt to elevate the medium and to give it a higher sense of "class" over comic books, which are assumed to be for children. We're at a point where graphic novel and trade paperback are essentially interchangeable.

Lumberjanes Vol. 1: Beware the Kitten Holy - Up front, I will admit that I did not know what to expect from this series when I began to read it. I enjoyed Noelle Stevenson's work on the new She-Ra series, so I wanted to see what else she could do. I'm not entirely certain that I know what the flip is going on here but Lumberjanes is absolutely bonkers and I'm kinda digging it.
